One of the things that you have to consider when installing your sump pump is the sump pump discharge. Where is all of that water going to go? Depending on you county or city you may be able to rout your sump pump discharge into the sewer but the city may charge you for that. The other option is to take your sump pump discharge out to a leach field. What you most likly don’t want to do is just run a hose out side some where away from the house.

This could cause problems with surrounding houses or even allow the water to just return to the basement. So i would suggest talking to your local building inspector. they will help you make the right desicion about  your sump pump discharge.
